Self Hypnosis

How to use self hypnosis to lose weight and feel great!

Self hypnosis is an entryway into the powerful energy of both the mind’s infinite imagination and the deep quiet of the unconscious mind. It is most useful for fine-tuning and changing habits.

This makes it ideal for weight loss, which is why it is a key part of the Think And Be Slim program (link to course). You can’t use it by yourself to solve deep, underlying problems such as depression or phobias. Such problems are best suited to heterohypnosis, whereby you work 1-2-1 with a certified hypnotherapist. So self-hypnosis is not a replacement for a hypnotherapist, but rather a supplement. I use a dentist analogy to best illustrate this: you go to the dentist to fix and problems you may have with your teeth. You then brush your teeth daily to help prevent any more problems occurring

Self hypnosis is an extremely important part of weight-loss. It can help you to:

Sleep better: Once you are in bed, you can play a Sleep Cd as you turn out the light. The positive suggestions of deep relaxation will enable you to sleep until the morning. You will wake up refreshed and in a positive frame of mind for the day ahead.

Make better use of your free time: If you’re on a bus/train or even standing in a long queue, you can programme yourself for the day ahead. By entering a self-induced hypnotic trance, you can use the infinite wisdom of your unconscious mind to find the solutions for any specific problems you may be struggling with.

Review the day’s activities: Relaxing in the bath at night is the perfect time and place for this. It enables you to observe the positive aspects of the day, while putting any negative occurrences into perspective. Together with the self-hypnosis you do in bed before going to sleep, you are building a mental diary, packed full of positive feedback. This is a great way to build the levels of confidence and enthusiasm you need to make all the changes you want.

Relax and calm your nerves before a situation that usually causes you to feel nervous. As I explain in TABS (create link), comfort eating is the number 1 cause of weight gain. You must therefore be in total control of your emotions at all times. Use self-hypnosis to create positive attitudes before an event. By doing so, you’ll possess the power to make the best possible food choices all throughout the day.

Prepare for future experiences in a positive, relaxing way. For example, if your goal is to lose 20 pounds, you can use self hypnosis to imagine achieving this positive outcome. By repeatedly practising self hypnosis in this way every day, you will begin to “see” yourself in your mind’s eye as being 20 pounds lighter. As a result, the required daily actions (healthy eating, exercise) will seem easy and effortless. The more you practise self hypnosis, the more powerful your results will be.

Dedicate at least 10 minutes every day to practising self-hypnosis. Consistency is the key. Once again, the more you practise, the more powerful the results will be.
